THE DEVELOPMENT LAB SYSTEM
YOUR TRAINING. YOUR PLAN. YOUR PLACE TO WORK.
Development Lab players don’t just leave with things to work on. They leave with prescribed Development Workouts — and designated access to iHOOP to complete them
TRAIN + ASSESS → GET YOUR WORKOUTS → USE YOUR GYM ACCESS → RETURN + PROGRESS
DEVELOPMENT LAB CYCLE
1. TRAIN + ASSESS
Coach-led training + individual assessment
2. RECEIVE YOUR PLAN
3 prescribed Development Workouts
3. DO THE WORK
Complete purposeful independent reps between sessions
4. RETURN & PROGRESS
Review, adjust, train, repeat
INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT & DIRECTION
Coach Kyle evaluates execution, habits, technique, and current development priorities throughout the Lab — not simply whether the player completed the drill.
LAB FOCUS
Your Lab isn’t eight separate training sessions. Each week builds from what Coach Kyle sees, what you’re assigned, the work you complete, and what you’re ready for next.
All-Around Guard Development Lab
Perimeter skill development with emphasis on ball control, attacking, footwork, shooting, scoring off the dribble, decision-making, and offensive skill.
Scoring & Shooting Development Lab
Greater emphasis on shooting, scoring off the dribble, attacking the basket, footwork, shot creation, and finishing.
The Lab theme sets the primary emphasis, not a restriction. Training may include multiple skill areas based on what Coach Kyle determines each player needs.
EXTRA DETAILS
DO THE WORK BETWEEN SESSIONS
Players receive 3 prescribed development workouts digitally within 24 hours after each Lab. Most are designed for approximately 30-45 minutes and can be completed more than once when additional quality repetitions are appropriate.
Workouts are completed independently at iHOOP during Independent Development Gym Access Hours, at home, and/or at another appropriate training space. Complete a minimum of 3 workouts before returning the following week. Some assignments may require a hoop; others may not.
Development Lab players may use these designated hours to complete prescribed development workouts and independent repetitions at iHOOP.
Independent Development Gym Access Hours are designated gym times for registered Lab players to complete prescribed work. They are not open gym and not an additional coached session.
Additional Access: Morning, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday access may occasionally be available by request. Additional access is subject to facility availability and approval and is not guaranteed or included as a regularly scheduled Development Gym Access Hour.
An optional additional opportunity to get quality repetitions and apply prescribed work. The session primarily consists of shooting and repetition work directed by Coach Kyle; it is not a second full teaching session.
COMMITMENT: Registration reserves the player’s position in the selected Lab for the full 8 weeks. Players should register only if they can consistently attend their weekly Lab and complete a minimum of 3 prescribed development workouts between sessions.
THE STANDARD: The Development Lab is for players ready to be coached, pay attention, train with purpose, and take responsibility for their development. Players are expected to listen when instruction is being given, respond to coaching, respect the training environment, and complete their prescribed work between sessions
Ready to learn. Coachable. Focused. Responsible.
Do Development Workouts change every week?
Not always. Work progresses when execution and understanding are ready to progress.
Can I repeat a Development Workouts?
Yes. Quality repetition is encouraged; completing an assignment once does not mean you are limited to doing it once.
Can Lab players attend Academy sessions?
No. Academy and Development Lab are separate offerings. Lab players use their prescribed work, Independent Development Access Hours, and the Optional Extra Rep Session.
Can a parent/guardian help during independent gym access?
One parent/guardian may rebound, pass, record, or provide basic assistance. They may not add drills, change the prescribed work, or conduct separate basketball training.
